Here come the warm ups
This was the first totally new collaboration for me; I’ve met Alex a few times but had never played with him or seen him play. Brad told me he was an the right wavelength for bcc: and was into EIS stuff, so I tried to pick a few a few rock-y songs to work on. I believe “skronky” is the word one would use to describe his playing—at least on these songs. Listening back made me think of Polvo, a lot of bendy-sounding parts. It’s not a sound I can really achieve, so it offered good contrast, and I felt it worked especially well on “Lost and Long.” I’ve been looking forward to getting a good take of that song.
Since it was just the three of us, I added some quick bass overdubs to add some anchoring to “Little Doubts” and “Lost and Long.” “Here comes the warm ups,” was just that, so I didn’t really mess with that.
